Email tops the ROI charts for effectiveness

If you haven't read eConsultancy's census on eCRM effectiveness. It's a must read.

Email return on investment comes out top for ROI (ahead of SEO), with three-quarters (73%, up from 66%) of companies agreeing that email offers ‘excellent’ to ‘good’ ROI. 2015 calculated an average ROI for email at £38 return for every £1 spent, I know one client that has an ROI of over £1,000 for every £1 spent.

When will other brands realise they need to increase their investment in eCRM.

If you're not currently emailing your clients & prospects on a monthly basis, you should focus on this.

I did this for a family run farm and in 9 months increased their direct clients from 450 to 690 and their prospect CRM from 250 email to 1,200 in 2 years. All this with virtually no marketing budget. Other than the cost to setup an email template & training them how to create new ones.

There was also a behavioural change needed. For example

  1. When taking an order, taking their email addresss & asking if they wanted to be subscribed to the monthly newsletter

  2. When attending food fairs, having newsletter signup form with a small competition to win a small prize

  3. Adding a newsletter signup form to the website

See the case study as to what can be achieved with very little marketing budget.
